“I’ve been with the writing program that Thalia started for over six years now! I love the program and it has not only helped me become a better writer, but also allowed me to make new friends and connect with people! Thalia has taught me many things and helped me learn what I like to write about, and has helped me get many steps closer to achieving my dream of becoming an author, a dream I have had since I was three years old. The writing program is also a safe place for me to write and discover what I like. Thalia is a great teacher who has a perfect balance between teaching and letting you have fun and being creative within your stories or poems. She is very supportive and helps make your dreams come true! Thalia is one of my favorite teachers, and she’ll be yours too!”

“As a parent, I have seen firsthand the remarkable impact Thalia has on young writers. My daughter has been fortunate to learn from her for the past six years, and it has been her absolute favorite class. Under Thalia’s guidance, she has grown tremendously as a writer, developing greater curiosity, confidence, and pride in her own voice. Thalia has a rare ability to meet students exactly where they are, while gently encouraging them to stretch, take risks, and grow. Her love for writing and for teaching shines through in everything she does. She worked tirelessly to publish The Trees, a book composed of her students’ writing, and went above and beyond by organizing a book reading at a local bookstore; a meaningful and successful celebration of her students’ work. I wholeheartedly recommend Thalia’s new writing school to any family seeking thoughtful instruction, creativity, and genuine care for their children.”

“Thalia is a really good writing teacher and she has helped me become a writer. I love taking her classes because she is very kind and thoughtful, and helps me edit my writing. I’ve developed as a writer since I started taking her classes. Thalia listens to me which makes me feel good.”

“Thalia’s classes are engaging and thoughtful. She cares about every one of her students and ensures everyone is participating.  I feel heard and respected in her classes.”

“I’m astounded at the community and excitement around writing that Thalia has built with children across all age and experience levels. She has created a space of inclusion, safety and creativity that’s allowed both of my children to develop and flourish in their own unique ways. The icing on the cake for me is the pride they feel in their writing under Thalia’s guidance. They’ve found their voices and it shows inside and outside of their writing.”

“After several years of writing classes with Thalia, I have really enjoyed being a part of a writing community where I could share my writing work in a friendly environment. Everyone is very welcoming and I have gotten better at writing through Thalia's helpful feedback and editing. As I go into high school, I am more likely to continue creative writing because of these classes.”

“Our math and technology-loving child has rarely expressed enthusiasm for writing. The one exception is writing classes with Thalia. In his years of taking writing classes with her, he has grown in his character development, narrative structure, and descriptions. Just as importantly, classes with her have given him the opportunity to practice his presentation skills, be a mentor to younger writers, and find joy in the social parts of a writing group. We wholeheartedly recommend writing classes with Thalia!”

“Thalia is an amazing, fun, friendly teacher. I love working with her on writing. Writing is awesome!”

“Lieuwe has spent four incredible years in Thalia’s writing community. The program has been instrumental in expanding Lieuwe’s breadth of writing genres as well as teaching him how to develop characters, plot and story lines. He has flourished in this amazing community and has developed as a stronger writer, more confident person, and creative force. We are ever thankful for Lieuwe’s continued involvement.”

“This writing class is fun, because we are a community. We respect one another's thoughts and ideas, and we help one another grow. It's a free space where you can share your thoughts and emotions, your feelings, things that you love, things that make you feel uncomfortable, but most importantly we help one another, not just in writing, but with compassion.”

“I love that the students are exposed to all different ideas, genres, and styles of storytelling that they may not otherwise know about. I'm very happy with how Thalia structures the sessions and encourages the children to try new things, to be proud of what they have written, and who they are. They are a true community, coming together to support one another, learn from each other, and to be creative in their writing.”

“I like writing with Thalia because she makes writing really fun. She comes up with great prompts. I used to not like writing at all but now I like writing a lot because of Thalia.”

“Four years ago, we told Ezra he had to choose one after school activity. He chose writing, but didn't really want to do that either. Turns out, it was the best possible decision for him. Despite some expressive language difficulties, the magic of Thalia has broken him out of his shell, transforming him from a reluctant writer into someone who completely identifies as a Writer. Thalia has cultivated a wonderful space where kids can be themselves, express themselves through writing in whatever way works for them, and (best of all) support and cheer on each other.”

“I love coming into the writing class because of the environment that Thalia creates and I love her attitude.  Even though there is a lot of fun in the class, Thalia always helps me become a better writer.”

“Thalia has been instrumental in my child’s overall development. She is a strengths based teacher, seeing all of the potential inside a child first, and then building instruction and curriculum from there.  She teaches her students not only to trust themselves as writers, but also as humans.  She personalizes her approach to each student, making sure to meet them where they are in terms of ability and interest and then guiding them to the next level from there. She holds her students in high regard and has high expectations for them.  My daughter loves to write and much of this is attributed to her experiences in writing class with Thalia.”
